Levar Burton is an American actor, director, producer, and author. He is best known for his roles as Kunta Kinte in the 1977 miniseries Roots and as Geordi La Forge in Star Trek: The Next Generation. He is the host and executive producer of the educational reading series Reading Rainbow, which ran from 1983 to 2006.
