Bob Metcalfe is a renowned engineer, inventor, and entrepreneur. He is best known for his invention of Ethernet and founding 3Com Corporation. He was awarded the National Medal of Technology in 1998 for his pioneering work in the development of Ethernet and the commercialization of the modern personal computer. He is also a professor at the University of Texas, Austin and has been awarded numerous honorary degrees.
