"It’s a brave book indeed that starts off by teaching kids how to fake reading in class. Born with an eye condition called strabismus, author James Robinson had firsthand knowledge of how to find workarounds in his daily life. With the use of clever illustrations and inventive techniques, young readers are placed directly into Robinson’s shoes (eyes?) as they attempt to read words that bob and leap about the page. That he grew up to become a successful documentary filmmaker is a testament to the resilience and strength depicted on these pages. An incredible memoir, as empowering as it is empathetic. (For ages 10 and up)"
