We Could Be So Good

"When Cat Sebastian is creating romance, every serve is an ace. Little surprise that this sweet and sizzling 1950s story is my favorite of the year. Sebastian draws the challenges of queer life in the period with insight and a light touch. The real stars, though, are her characters and their chemistry. “Nick Russo could fill the Sunday paper with reasons why he shouldn’t be able to stand Andy Fleming.” On top of being the boss’s son, Andy is a gadfly and a diffident heir who’s only “slumming it” on the city desk at The Chronicle, the New York newspaper where Nick is sweating out his dreams. Nick clocks a litany of reasons to loathe this upstart, yet the hostile pose lasts barely an hour. He becomes Andy’s guide, then best friend. Their slow-burning sparks are organic, joy inducing and earned."
