"This novel starts with a florid-yet-tragic tale of an emotionally stunted Jazz Age tycoon whose wife gets sick and dies young. That story quite thankfully ends at page 124. The next part is drafted (badly) by a Jazz Age tycoon with a different name but oddly similar profile. His writing can be described as overblown self-hagiography. At this point, I almost quit reading. But I’m glad I didn’t. Trust takes off with blinding speed once the woman hired by the tycoon to finish writing his memoir starts her own story. Trust is a puzzle of a book, wholly satisfying and 100% brilliant."
