"Sarah Moss writes so gracefully and perceptively about nature and time, and Summerwater is no different. Taking place over a rainy day at a Scottish vacation site, it’s full of human drama: married couples finding time away from each other, an overworked mother, a lonely teenage boy. But Moss interrupts these storylines with lovely interludes on plants and animals, water and wind. Nature doesn’t care about our problems, she seems to be reminding the reader. I often come away from Moss’ books feeling small, in the best sense."
