The Seventh Voyage

"Stanislaw Lem’s story is quite short, takes place inside a cramped spaceship and features only one character (well, sort of). But master artist Jon Muth makes this small story a place you can stay a while. When narrator Ijon Tichy zooms into a field of gravitational vortices, different versions of him start appearing – each from different times. While Lem’s text pokes fun at the concept of the heroic solo space traveler, Muth’s soft-edged paintings gently mock the notion of space travel as a high-tech fantasy."
