Search: A Novel

"For anyone who’s ever served on a committee and lived to rue that decision, this is the novel for you. Michelle Huneven’s narrator, Dana Potowski, is a food writer living in California who finds herself serving on the search committee for a new minister for her Unitarian Universalist church. Personality clashes and deal-making ensue, as do many potluck dinners (recipes included). Huneven is alert to the inflated language of resumes and committee-speak and her descriptions of the particular ordeal of conducting first-round interviews over Zoom are hilarious. “Search” no more for a delicious comic novel for holiday gift-giving."
