"Scrappy and bootstrappy, endlessly niche and DIY, the early internet was very different from the infinite scroll it has become today. One could disappear into assumed personas and passionate interest groups, like the amateur game-development chat rooms where Abraxa, Sash and Lilith “meet” in cyberspace as teens, each struggling with different flavors of neurodivergence and gender dysphoria. Two decades later, their lives converge again. Through IRC chat logs and unsent emails, A/S/L tells a story of delusions, obsessions and compromises, as three online childhood friends find their way and each other in a world that has changed under their feet."
