"If your love language is snark, this book is for you. Known for two kinds of books – historical fiction where the history is 20 minutes ago (Rodham, American Wife) and social X-rays in the lineage of Jane Austen (Eligible, Prep) – Curtis Sittenfeld checks both boxes with her latest. The oh-so-recent history here is the COVID-19 pandemic, and the historical figures are characters based on Saturday Night Live writers, producers and actors. It’s a very satisfying plot that Sittenfeld pulls together from the strands of our familiar lives and from sources documenting SNL. And my favorite scene: The main character’s first significant one-on-one interaction is the give-and-take of an edit! You don’t have to be an editor, though, to be charmed by this romance."
