"Who hasn’t fantasized about getting a crew together, Ocean’s Eleven-style, and executing a heist? Well, narrator Jada probably hadn’t before her life began to fall apart and the weight of her student loan debts became unbearable. But after being fired from her dream job and then being fired from her retail job, which she mostly liked OK, Jada and her friends begin to plan a heist, of sorts, to wipe out their – and everyone else’s – student loan debts. The stakes are especially high because the chiseled, turquoise-wearing members of a newly formed police division have been brutally beating people in debt, disproportionately targeting Black women like Jada."
