"DeRay Mckesson, one of the best-known leaders of the Ferguson protests and the Black Lives Matter movement, offers a theology of hope that can be understood and embraced even by people who are not religious. He describes his journey from middle-class professional striver to radical disciple of social change. Somehow he pulls this off in language so simple and clear, even a middle-schooler can understand it (as long as you are comfortable with a blunt discussion of his grappling with his sexual orientation). I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand why this movement resonates so deeply with so many, especially if you disagree with it."
