Oculus: Poems

"This was a big year for reckoning with the Internet, which for the developed world, has become the central organizing unit of modern life. Oculus is a vivid poetry collection that helped me better feel and recognize the disorientation of this digital, self-surveilling era. Sally Wen Mao investigates identity, race and projection in a way that made for such a thoughtful and engaging read, even for the poetry-averse reader like me (I hang my head in shame).
