"Zoe Sivak’s debut novel Mademoiselle Revolution truly accomplishes what this author set out to do with her work – “explore famous male figures through the lens of the women beside them.” As a fan of historical fiction, this novel captured and kept my attention as it follows a privileged biracial woman caught in the middle of political and social revolutions in Haiti and France. What I love about this book is the author’s ability to take a well-known event in history and give it a fresh take through the eyes of a fictional female character, who might as well have been a part of these famous men’s real lives."
