"Reading a Kevin Kwan book (he also wrote Crazy Rich Asians) makes me happy. I’m transported by a smart, funny narrator into an ultra-luxurious world with at least one or two characters I identify with. Lies and Weddings gives us spectacular destination weddings and a handsome but soon-to-be-poor son of British nobility whose mother wants him to marry a wealthy heiress rather than his true love, a hardworking doctor. But even as Kwan gently pokes fun at the superrich in his inimitable style, he also explores issues of class, identity and family. Thought provoking but still a fun ride!"
