"As a fragile romantic, I was shocked by how much I enjoyed this wry tale of modern love gone off the rails. But like reality television, unholy messes are riveting. Luke and Celine are enviable, newly engaged, 20-something Dubliners with great careers and fashionable friends, but their relationship is hobbled by doubt. That sounds like Sally Rooney territory, but this is darker – reading it feels like a twisty and suspenseful thriller with wounded hearts in place of dead bodies. Part of that is due to the ingenious structure. Naoise Dolan tells this story from multiple perspectives, saving one of the central players for last."
