Greeks Bearing Gifts

"It’s 1956, and former Berlin police Detective Bernie Gunther is living in Greece under an alias and trying to leave his homeland and the nightmares of “our National Socialist revolution” far behind. But that’s going to be impossible, as Bernie is hired to investigate an insurance claim that may, in fact, involve valuables stolen by the Nazis from Jews deported to Auschwitz. It’s an engrossing read, and Bernie is perfectly flawed and cynical. Sadly, Kerr died this year, but fans may be comforted to hear that he reportedly finished one final Bernie Gunther manuscript."
