"Frank Li is in love with a white girl, but his Korean parents don’t approve. So he concocts a plan to fake-date a fellow Korean as a cover. What will happen next? It’s not what you think! OK, maybe it is. It’s classic rom-com, sure, but this book manages to both be exceedingly delightful and dish out a lot of realness without making it feel like a lesson. Frank and his friends confront racism, stereotypes and complicated parent-child relationships. They explore their sexualities, identities and immigrant histories. But what I love the most about Frankly in Love is that everyone is honestly just trying to do their best. You get to root for everyone for a change, and it’s a really nice feeling."
