"If I had Dorie Greenspan’s baking skills and track record, I reckon I’d be resting on my sweet golden-brown laurels at this point and gorging on cookies from dawn till dusk. Not so, Dorie. With 2010’s Around My French Table, she proved she knew her way around dinner just as well as dessert. This year, she does it again. Classics abound: chowders, roasts, stews, even spaghetti and meatballs. But even better are the surprises: pork stir-fried with tahini and cider vinegar, burgers with a whole container of sautéed mushrooms chopped into the mix, corn with miso butter. The final chapter, almost as an afterthought, features low-pressure crumbles, bars, easy cakes. (After all, it’s Dorie, which means you always save room for dessert.)"
